Are you a student from a Least Developed Member Country (LDMC) seeking a fully funded opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Technology, or Medicine? The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is currently accepting applications for its M.Sc. Scholarship Program for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Program Objective
This scholarship aims to empower students from LDMCs by supporting their academic development in critical fields. The program helps build a skilled workforce capable of contributing to scientific and technological growth in their home countries.
General Information
Study level: Master of Science (M.Sc.)
Program duration: 2 years
Language of instruction: English or the official language of the host university
Eligible countries: 20 Least Developed Member Countries (e.g., Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Mali, Gambia, Niger, etc.)
Fields of study: Science, Engineering, Technology, and Medicine/Medical Sciences
Eligible applicants: Male and Female
Host countries: IsDB member countries with top 1000 universities (according to Times Higher Education ranking)
Preferred destinations: Malaysia, Türkiye, Morocco, and Makerere University in Uganda
Funding type: Fully funded
What the Scholarship Covers
- Full tuition fees paid directly to the university
- Monthly stipend based on local living costs
- Health care at university or local public hospital
- Thesis preparation allowance
- Return airfare (start and end of studies)
- Installation grant for students studying abroad
What Is Not Covered
- Visa application fees
- Family-related expenses
- Equipment (laptops, software, etc.)
- Costs for fieldwork, conferences, or seminars
- Travel beyond the start and end of the program
- Residence permit fees
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a citizen of one of the 20 LDMCs
- Be under 30 years old at the time of application
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of the eligible fields
- Have a strong academic record
- Be nominated by an academic or research institution in their home country
- Demonstrate proficiency in the language of instruction
- Admission to a university is preferred (not mandatory)
- Cannot be an IsDB staff member or related to IsDB employees
Recipient Commitments
- Sign a binding agreement to complete the program
- Return to the home country upon graduation
- Work in science or development fields for twice the duration of the scholarship
- Submit regular academic progress reports
- Not accept other scholarships or paid work during the program
