Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs established the esteemed MOFA Taiwan Fellowship program to assist foreign academics and scholars who have a keen interest in Taiwan and the surrounding areas. This fellowship promotes in-depth research in fields including sinology, Asia-Pacific politics, Taiwan studies, and cross-strait relations. The chosen fellows will work closely with local academics and have access to important academic resources while doing their research at prestigious universities or other academic establishments in Taiwan. The program fosters international cooperation, a greater comprehension of Taiwan’s history and culture, and worldwide scholarly interaction. Additionally, the fellowship reserves 12 spots annually for applicants from emerging APEC economies by the APEC Scholarship Initiative. Research usually starts in January, and applications are accepted in May and June.
