It supports meaningful research in a North-South context and provides international collaboration opportunities.

About the Scholarship

The Special Research Fund Doctoral Scholarship is a “sandwich” program. Students spend part of their PhD at Ghent University (the “North”) and part at a university in the Global South (the “South”). Ghent University finances 24 months of research conducted in Belgium. Students must have separate funding for the 24 months of research in the South.
