Information About Professor Wang Gungwu

Wang Gungwu was born in Indonesia in 1930. She received her PhD in history from the Australian National University in 1963. She was appointed Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong in 1996, a position she held until 2000. Wang Gungwu is recognized as a leading scholar of Asian history and politics, particularly Southeast Asia, and the Wang Gungwu Visiting Fellows Program at the Yusuf Ishak Institute in Singapore is named in her honor.
