Sending 3000 new Afghan workers to Qatar

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has announced that efforts to send Afghan workers abroad are still ongoing. In the latest development, the ministry has reached an agreement with Qatari companies to provide 3,000 new job opportunities for Afghan workers.

According to officials, 700 job placements had already been secured in Qatar earlier. With this new agreement, the total number of opportunities for Afghan workers in the country has now risen to over 2,000.

Samiullah Ebrahimi, spokesperson of the ministry, said:
“In the coming days, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will share details about the conditions and skills required by the Qatari companies. This will help us identify the right workers for these opportunities.”

Meanwhile, several workers in Kabul, struggling with unemployment and poor economic conditions, have welcomed the move. However, they are also calling for transparency in the recruitment process and priority for those with financial need and technical skills.

Mahdi, a worker, said:
“We want this process to be transparent. In the past, I was supposed to go to the UAE for work, but later I learned that the process was not fair and that those managing it sent their own relatives instead.”

Another worker, Nik Mohammad, added:
“There are no jobs here. If we get the chance to work abroad, it will help us and our families.”

Economic experts also welcomed the initiative, stating that sending Afghan workers abroad can reduce unemployment and provide valuable professional training.

Mir Shakir Yaqubi, an economic analyst, explained:
“Sending workers abroad creates job opportunities, gives them access to technical and professional skills, and helps build a stable income source. This way, Afghan workers can support their families back home.”

This step comes at a time when reports by the United Nations continue to highlight the rising unemployment rate in Afghanistan. Experts stress that while overseas employment is important, the government must also focus on long-term plans to create sustainable jobs inside the country.
